Friday Night, Date Night.

Me and the Husband went on a date a couple of weeks ago to a really nice pub in Wakefield. The atmosphere and the food was lovely, and therefore we both throughly enjoyed ourselves.

After looking at the menu and seeing the wide range of variety for vegetarians, we decided to treat ourselves and go for a full 3 course meal. For starters the husband had baked camembert, which was served with char-grilled sourdough bread, caramelised red onion chutney and char-grilled peppers. I chose to have halloumi fries, which were coated in a spicy coating and served with a spicy Tabasco mayonnaise, along with a dressed salad garnish and toasted mixed seeds. The starters were lovely and really got us in the mood for our evening out.

As for the main, the husband had halloumi and roasted vegetables which consisted of grilled halloumi on a mix of warm roasted butternut squash, red onion, red and green peppers and baby potatoes, mixed with asparagus, broccoli and a house dressing. I went for the grilled courgette rolls, which were rolled ribbons of courgette, stuffed with Moroccan-spiced brown vegetable rice, on mini skewer, on a bed of chargrilled vegetables.

We enjoyed our mains but felt they could have been served with a sauce or gravy, as it was a little dry but nevertheless we enjoyed our meals.

Moving on to dessert, they had so many options and I was stuck as to what to get, but in the end I went for a bakewell tart, which was served warm with clotted cream ice cream and cherry compote. It was so yummy and I was glad I went for this dessert. The husband went for bramley apple pie, which was served with custard. He enjoyed his apple pie and therefore was happy with the whole evening.
